Allston Street families need our help

Mayor establishes Fire Relief Fund

TUESDAY, JULY 29, 2014— Patricia Tuccinardi, aide to Mayor David Maher, writes: "Nine families were displaced and are currently staying in hotels and shelters. The majority of the residents displaced were renters, making it difficult to recover losses. These families are low income and working class and have lost all their possessions. "They are our neighbors and need our help. The Mayor's Office has started a 'gofundme' page to raise funds for these families so they can get back on their feet—

"Help us spread the word and help our Allston Street neighbors."

[The Allston Street fire started around 3:00 Sunday morning in a three-decker that had been vacated for reconstruction. It quickly spread to two others, including a six-family owned by a subsidiary of Homowners Rehab (HRI), a nonprofit renting primarily to lower income families.]
