Ballot count rescheduled

Count moved back to April 28; voting deadline is still April 21

THURSDAY, APRIL 17, 2014— The ACT Office reminds ACT members that the deadline for voting in the 2014 ACT Board election is 5:00 p.m., Monday April 21. However the votes will not be tallied that evening as originally planned.

The count has been postponed for one week and will take place on the evening of Monday, April 28. The Election Committee and executive officers made this change because postal service has been so unreliable.

Ballots were mailed out on April 4, yet after two weeks, many members still have not received this mailing. Returning ballots has been a problem too—some are taking more than a week to arrive at the ACT post office box. Ninety percent of ACT’s voting takes place by mail. Therefore we are allowing an extra week for late mail to arrive before doing the count.
A representatives of the Election Committee will be present at Manning Apartments between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21 with a ballot box to accept late ballots in person.
We are stressing that the deadline for actually casting votes remains 5:00 p.m. April 21, as before. Voters should not attempt to cast ballots after that deadline.
